Staffed by a dynamic team of open-minded professionals, Research Centre promotes the development and implementation of sound climate and environmental friendly policies through conducting in-depth analysis and research, as well as fostering dialogue among stakeholders, to drive China's green transition towards a sustainable, equitable and resilient future, contributing to the reduction of global ecological footprint.

 

Position Overview

G:HUB Research Centre conducts research and policy advocacy on issues related to climate change and sustainable financing. The position will provide the successful candidate with an opportunity to be involved in:

• Conducting analysis and communications on climate change, energy and finance issues to achieve an environmental friendly future;

• Exploring emerging and innovative fields independently, provided with international learning and training opportunities, supporting and joining workshop activities;

• Providing support and administrative tasks to the Centre when necessary;

• Working with an efficient team under a flexible work environment.

The program officer will have the opportunity to work in a new and dynamic grass-root NGO, focusing on topics vital to China’s green transition, and to develop valuable experience working in a local civil society organization with a global outlook.

 

Main responsibilities:

1. Engage with the Research Centre in developing an overall long term vision and strategy with respect to research, and innovative policy advocacy related to climate and sustainable finance for China’s green transition;

2. Track international and domestic climate, energy and finance policies and actions; write timely observation paper, analysis and responses to emerging issues related to domestic and international green governance;

3. Support the team to promote a truly responsible, climate-friendly and mutually-beneficial development model for China’s green transition by conducting research, showcase effective policies, regulatory, and industry safeguards and best practice.

4. Develop networking relationships with stakeholders in climate and finance sectors, and ally with domestic and international civil society groups and develop connections with academics and think tank researchers.

5. Organize and join related workshop activities and provide general support and administrative tasks to the Centre when necessary.

 

Necessary Qualifications:

Most importantly, G:HUB seeks applicants with a commitment to environmental protection and/or responsible investment. Additionally applicants should:

• Hold at least a Master degree in environmental policy, management or economics; energy; international relation or public policy. Background from management consultancy, or significant work/internship experience in CSR, climate, environmental or energy related work is needed.  

• Be able to conduct independent research and analysis with excellent climate and energy knowledge, network with different players related to climate and energy sectors including government officials, policymakers, and regulators. Knowledge of China’s local and global energy transition would be desirable

• Have basic researching skills and adept at using communication channels and tools, and able to contribute to developing strategies of the Centre.

• Be able to follow guidance from supervisor, but also be able to take initiative and work independently.

• Have good communication skills and be comfortable working as part of a team, be able to prioritize and complete multiple tasks according to deadlines.

• Be fluent in Chinese and English, and feel comfortable to communicate in English at least at an intermediate level.

• Be personally committed to working in an NGO sector and working towards the goal of an environmental and climate friendly future.

• Be based in Beijing, accept to work flexible hours and be willing to travel when necessary, both in China and overseas when necessary.
